Hollow Metal Doors

We are distributors for Pioneer hollow metal doors.  We inventory mostly 18 gage doors in a variety of cores and sizes.

Abbreviations

4: Meaning 1 3/4" thick door.

8: Meaning 1 3/8" thick door.

BA: Blank active lock prep meaning door is same size as a standard active door but with a blank lock stile.

BP: Blank panel prep meaning door is same size as a standard active door but with no lock or hinge preps. These doors are mainly used by our shop to match the customers existing conditions.

CRS: Cold rolled steel.

CYL: Cylindrical lock prep (Govt 161)-- standard is 2 1/8" hole with 2 3/4" cl backset.

GALV: Hot dipped zinc coated galvanized.

INA: Inactive prep meaning flushbolt and 4 7/8 strike preps (no lip cutout on strike so door is still reversable) -- door is 1/8" wider than an active door.

MP: Multi-purpose lock prep (Govt 86) can be used for mortise hardware, panic devices, or push and pull when an edge filler is installed.

Definintions

C SERIES: Internally reinforced with steel hat channel and voids filled with fiberglass insulation. Seamless edges.

CH SERIES: Kraft honeycomb core bonded to both skins. Seamless edges.

CHT SERIES: Rigid urethane core bonded to both skins. Seamless edge. (R factor 11.66)

E-6 PROFILE: Six panel embossed skins with polystyrene core.

FILLER PLATE: Steel screw in plates made to fit various preps in doors and frames.

FLUSH DOOR: A door with no louvers, visions, panels, or applied mouldings.

H SERIES: Kraft honeycomb core bonded to both skins. Lockseam edge.

HP SERIES: Rigid polystyrene core bonded to both skins. Lockseam edge. (R factor 7.12)

HT SERIES: Rigid urethane core bonded to both skins. Lockseam edge. (R factor 11.66)

NET HEIGHT: Actual height of door after undercut and head clearances are subtracted. Our stock doors have a sill clearance of 5/8" and a head clearance of 1/8" leaving a total net height of 3/4" less than nominal.

NET WIDTH: Actual width of door after undersizing. Our stock active doors are undersized 1/4" and our stock inactive doors are undersized 1/8".

Typical Description

HMD H18-4 CRS F 3070 (CYL)

This is a very simple description that can be broken down and understood by even the most inexperienced individual.

HMD simply stands for HOLLOW METAL DOOR.
H18-4 stands for and H SERIES DOOR, 18 GAGE, 1 3/4" THICK.
CRS means COLD ROLLED STEEL.
F stands for FLUSH.
3070 is the nominal size (3'-0" X 7"-0"). Sizes are always given width x height and considered to be nominal unless otherwise specified.
(CYL) is a CYLINDRICAL lock prep.

Complex Description

HMD CHT16-4 GALV F 40710 (MP)

HMD simply stands for HOLLOW METAL DOOR again.
CHT16-4 stands for and CHT SERIES DOOR, 16 GAGE, 1 3/4" THICK.
GALV means HOT DIPPED ZINC COATED GALVANIZED STEEL.
F stands for FLUSH.
40710 is the nominal size (4'-0" X 7'-10").Sizes are always given width x height and considered to be nominal unless otherwise specified.
(MP) is a MULTI-PURPOSE lock prep.
